In advantage in installing Cuda toolkit 8?

I'm just wondering if there is any advantage in installing CUDA toolkit 8?

I think I have 7.5 on my machine...maybe?

Sorry if my question is meaningless, new to GPU rendering sans octane, and the only other time I've bothered with CUDA kits etc. is for earlier builds of 3D coat.

The 7.5 version that you see is the one that we used when making the V-Ray build. There is no need for you to install the CUDA toolkit at all - it only makes sense if you are a developer. Even if you do install it, it will make no difference at all as far as V-Ray is concerned.

I hate to seem like a thorn in the side of you guys, but is there any chance that when you update to use the CUDA 8 toolkit the pascal cards will see a slight bump/improvement in speed for RT?
