  • Online licensing randomly not avaialable - This is NOT OK

    Hi Guys,

    the licensing suddenly and randomly did not work any more for both Barend and me. See attached image. I have a stable internet connection - HOW CAN THIS BE? We have deadlines - the licensensing needs to work reliably!

    It this only a problem that we have or is everyone effected? Can we get something that after it reaches the server last, there is an auto updating 10 mins window where the license will still be granted locally or something to deal with this kind of desaster?

    Please look into this and offer a more reliabale solution!

      I had something like this on Monday, I couldn't enable online or get it to connect. I re-installed the license server to get it to work again. I think windows 10 and windows updates are a cause... seems to always coinside in my case.

        Hello Modonauts,

        I would like to inform you that we have been updating a license server, so you should have some issues with it next few hours. A cloud team, have been informed us that update should resolve most of the well-known problems. My advice to you is to borrow a license for awhile. Sorry if we trouble you.

          Hi Boyon,

          when you are doing something like this just give people a warning so that they can plan. That would be a big help and put people muhc more at ease...

            + 1, an email or something like this would be greatly appreciated, I am not used to borrow my licenses so it can lead to bad surprises if you're doing things in this order. Thank you !

                    I think -200 means that the connection to the local license server cannot be established.
                    Can you check if it's running http://localhost:30304/#/ and activated ?
                    Also whether your V-Ray for MODO is setup to use it ?
                    You can do this during the V-Ray for MODO installation or from Start Menu -> Chaos Group -> V-Ray for MODO -> Licensing -> Change V-Ray License Settings.

                      Hi Vladimir,

                      the localhost says enable online licensing and the dongle is blinking. Vray was working and today its not. Are you saying the only option is to reinstall vray?

                      Ok reinstalled vray and its working. But I do not understand this comment "You can do this during the V-Ray for MODO installation or from Start Menu -> Chaos Group -> V-Ray for MODO -> Licensing -> Change V-Ray License Settings."

                      When I reinstalled I did not any options it seem to be transparent in the install process and I can not find any "Start Menu" in modo, where is this located?

                        Sorry, I should've added a screen-shot to better explain it.

                        During installation you can click on the Customize button and then you can enter the IP/name of the license server.
                        Note that this is a global option that affects all V-Ray installations.

                        You can also do this after installation from the Start Menu. Again this affects all V-Ray installations.
