  • Renderfarm support ?

Hi all, can somebody enlighten me which commercial Renderfarms already support Vray for Modo ? Or is this automatically supported by their Modo renderer plugins ?

    Thanks in advance

I know Deadline has an option to render with V-Ray, haven't tested it myself.

Thanks, i meant internet renderfarms like REBUS, sorry for the misunderstanding. I already contacted them and they told me its not available yet, but they are working on a plugin for Vray standalone.

Some people report using https://garagefarm.net/ with V-Ray for MODO, maybe through .vrscene I am not sure.
You could also use REBUS , but you would have to export the MODO scene to a .vrscene file and send that and use their support for V-Ray Standalone rendering.

I rendered my first Modo+V-Ray project in November at Garage.farm. Till then I done a few more, zero problems. They also have a way to use nightly builds if you need special features (which I needed before 3.5 was official). So I'm very happy with them. Personal nice support by real humans

So, now that i am officially a new Vray for Modo user, does anyone have new info on that ? From what i have herd from Rebus they have still no Vray for Modo option, you need to go via vrscene (which i am trying to figure out how it works now).

Exporting and using .vrscenes with rebus is kind of a pain, but it's the most reliable way to use REBUS and vray for MODO right now. They're working on a plugin but not sure when it will work reliably.

When you use the rebus standalone importer, be sure to give the file name the extension of the format you want to use. By default it uses 8-bit png if you don't specify, so be sure to add a .exr or what ever you prefer to use.

We have Vray Cloud now too, but I have yet to use that. Could be really awesome if it's competitively priced.

Thanks for your answer. I tried Rebus too but have no luck, i always get a bunch of error messages when the vrscene file is validated; always exactly the same error message for every file i tested. I have seen that gararage.net is supporting Vray for Modo too, but haven't tested it yet.

edit: so i finally made it to the Rebus farm and even got a rendered picture back, but as soon as i add my replicated grass and hedges to the scene validating takes forever, anyone get an idea what to do ?

So what is Vray Cloud, never heard of that ?

Does it render fine in MODO but it's looking odd from Rebus? Are you exporting a vrscene and using standalone with Rebus?

It renders way to dark with Rebus, looks like a Gamma problem anywhere. The other scene with the replicated grass i stopped validating after an hour, maybe i'll try it again when i have enough time and i have solved the Gamma problem.

So this is even if you use a VRscene? The gamma issue might be because you changed some settings in the VFB that are not in the final render...maybe?

Yup, that happens when i try to export a vrscene. And yes, i have attached an AdobeRGB icc-file in VFB to see how my file looks color corrected.

You should upload part of that scene and maybe let us and Vladimir take a look at it.

So, did another test, its definitely the replicators that cause Rebus to validate endlessly, don't know how to solve that problem. I exported the picture with my polygon heavy trees, but without grass and hedges replicators, and it validated pretty quick, and renders fine.

The other one with the dark picture could be easily solved by reimporting the rendered picture into VFB, but sadly VFB exports only 8Bit PNG or TIFF instead of 16Bit i'd like to have. Can someone from ChaosGroup explain why i can export a rendered picture from VFB in 16Bit PNG but not an imported VRIMG picture ?
