  • Render Curves Not Working

    Hi

Im using Vray 3.5 with MODO 11v3 and am having an issue with render curves. I can see the curves in the VRay RT render, and they render exactly as expected, but with VRay Standalone - they do not appear.

    (Please see screenshot)

Clicking on 'Render Curves as Polygons' makes no difference. The curves material is just a standard VRay material to set the colour.

[update: Vray does render the curves if I switch off all the other geometry, but just not seem to like it when things are all visible - hope this helps!]

    Any help gratefully received!
    Thanks

That's really strange, can you send me the scene so I can take a look ?

      Hi Vladimir

Thanks for your reply - of course. As a workaround, I baked the geometry cache (which actually seemed to give a more pleasing curve. When the machine has finished, Ill send you a sample of the scene with the same problem.

My workflow (in the problem scene) was:

      1) select polygon panel and covert to Boundary edges.
      2) copy these edges to a new layer
      3) use Palette > Curves Palette then select 'Edges to Curves' with option B-Spline
      4) under Properties > Curves, set to render curves

Will email you a file as soon as this render is done.
      Many thanks!

        Hi Vladimir

I was preparing a cut down version of the scene file this morning to send to you for diagnostics, but the render curves worked correctly. I tried again with the original file and this too worked correctly.

The only thing that changed was that when I was having issues, my computer had not been rebooted (and had been rendering) for 3 days continuously. Today, having switched the machine off and rebooted, things seem to be working a expected. Im using a iMac running Sierra.

It's weird, but now I know what to do if it happens in the future. I guess my file will not help you for diagnostics as you may not be able to reproduce the fault. I'll definitely let you know if it happens again, or if I notice any pattern.

        Many thanks!
