  • Beginner question - jagged edges

so, i've been trying to remove these jagged edges without any luck.

i've tried without AA, with AA = Area 1.5 and 1.8, with Catmull, Gaussian, etc. and they still there.
this pretty bad when i'm in post trying to sharpen up the image.

    tips are most welcome
    tia.

Is this the edge between a light (or something else that is very bright, like a light's reflection) and a darker object ?

I think you are supposed to enable lens effects (bloom/glare) to create a soft glow around the edge.
That's what happens when you shoot something similar with a real camera.

The other non-recommended option is to enable "clamp output" and "sub-pixel clamping" in the color mapping settings.
The sub-pixel mapping option is hidden away in the Channels viewport, because it's a legacy option that you are not supposed to use anymore.

yes, the problem is indeed only visible in dark/bright situations.
i'll try the sub-pixel clamping first. sounds like a logical solution

      thank you!

With the "clamp output" channel selected in the Properties viewport, you need to go to the Channels viewport where "sub-pixel mapping" is right below "clamp output".
If you don't have "clamp output" selected initially, it might be hard to locate "sub-pixel mapping", as the Render item has a lot of channels.
