  • V-Ray Show in Paris today

Today was the V-RAY ARCHITECTURE DAY PARIS 2018

This morning Yana Andreeva from Chaosgroup introduced V-Ray Next for 3DS Max.

    Amazing things I noted :
    - The super fast "preview" NVIDIA denoising system,
    - The new cloud rendering
    - UI Change
    - The new Frame buffer
    - improved GPU rendering
    - Material switching ...

V-Ray Next is a very promising --> Can't wait for modo version, it seems it will be available after "the majors"

    My credit card is ready

We already have the material switching and the cloud rendering in the 3.6 V-Ray for Modo builds.
For the latter, you can apply for beta access here : https://vray.cloud.

      Vladimir,

[EDIT] You're right I believed the Cloud rendering was very new Chaosgroup architecture (thanks for the link).

I forgot in my favourites :
      - V-Ray Physical Camera
      - New Dome light system

The V-Ray Physical Camera was removed and now added back to V-Ray for 3ds Max.
It's already in V-Ray for Modo.
I am not sure there is anything new there, maybe if you count the auto-exposure feature as part of the physical camera.

Coming from Softimage, VRay Physical Camera Rig is added directly from Primitive Light and you see it in the explorer ...

I have to read more the modo manual, just saw the package need to be loaded in modo

With my noob observation I am discovering VRay difference between XSI and modo

Not sure how it works in XSI, but in Modo, you can't have plug-in cameras.
So the V-Ray Physical Camera properties are added as a package on the normal Modo camera.
There is an entry for this command in the V-Ray menu, and in the V-Ray toolbar ( the P+- icon ).
From the Preferences, you can also enable an option to have the Physical Camera package be added automatically when you select a camera or start rendering from it.
