  • Layer Material Coat rendering transparent

Hello, I would like to use clear coat and wooden texture as base material. However coat renders as see-through. Should you not see base material through it?

It's hard to tell without a scene.
Are you sure the base material is not transparent as well ?

I have reproduced this in simple scene too. Materials behave as a simple combination of two materials and not as a stack of base and coat.

I finally took a look at the scene you sent me.
You have added refraction to your coat material, that's the reason the whole material becomes transparent.
I think that's how it's supposed to work.

If you want to see less of the coat material, you should either use its opacity channel/texture or its blend amount in the blend material.
For a coat layer, you don't want to have refraction.
