  • If Modo's autosave dialog pops up while moving sliders in VFB, mouse events get stuck, requiring a restart to fix

If you are moving sliders in the VFB and modo's autosave pops up a progress bar dialog, the mouse gets stuck on that control. You can't click anything else in the UI and the only way to fix it is to restart modo.

    1. Go to preferences > defaults > autosave and set time intervale to 1.0 (so we can test this quicker)
2a. Load a heavy scene (something that takes long enough to save, that a dialog box with progress bar appears)

    OR

2b. If you dont have a scene, add a sphere and subdivide it 5 times, duplicate and move it next to the other sphere, then save this scene somewhere.
    3. Start RT GPU and open the color corrections panel
    4. Enable exposure and move the exposer slider back and forth for a minute or so (you should see the autosave diloag pop up, showing a progress bar while it saves)
NOTE: Make sure you are moving the slider while the auto save is happening

RESULT: After the autosave is done, you can no longer click anything in the UI. Moving/clicking the mouse, will continue moving the exposure slider only

I have attached a video showing this happen.

Notice when I quit modo, I cant actually click the "don't save" button either. I have to press the shortcut (backspace), for modo to quit.

Michele was running into something similar and we talked about it on skype

It may or may not be the same bug, so I'm posting here so it can be logged

        1. Start modo and press render in vfb
        2. Mouse zoom into the image and middle click pan
        3. WHILE panning, press ctrl+1 to open a pie menu and HOLD this pie menu open (keep holding ctrl+1)
        4. LEFT CLICK in the middle of the pie menu (the circle in the middle)

You can now no longer click anything in modo. Right clicking anywhere on the screen will bring up one of the VFB menus
Modo needs to be restarted to fix it

It seems that if a "mouse down" event is happening in qt, but gets interrupted by something (eg auto save dialog, or a pie menu), then it never receives the "mouse up", so gets stuck

This is still happening in V-Ray Next, but I think I have found a way to "unlock" the mouse again. Just middle click quickly several times.

I have seen this too but didn't figure it out so thanks John and especially for the workaround.
On a similar note I get problems on Windows with UI interaction when I use Win TAB, to fix this one I find ALT Tab restores interaction. Not V-Ray specific but might help someone.
