  • Denoiser rendering + region always blackouts outside

When Denoiser is enabled and region rendering is performed, the outside of the region always blacks out.

EffectResult and element path exist only in region.

Confirm with V-Ray 3.60 and Next 1st BETA

    Please check and Fix.

This seems to be V-Ray Core behavior, not something specific to V-Ray for Modo.

I think it happens only when your initial render didn't have the "effectsResult" channel, i.e. denoising wasn't enabled.
If you have denoising enabled in the first render that renders the whole resolution, the issue is not reproduceable.

On the Cinema version we have the same issues no matter if effects results/denoiser was enabled or not on the initial render. This happens since version 3.5, I’m preety sure using 3.4 the render region doesn’t have this issue.

It does not happen with V-Ray Next for 3dsMax.
As Sirio points out, it does not happen with V-Ray 3.4.

However, the same problem occurs in V-Ray Next for Maya. It may be a problem of V-Ray Next Core.

It is ideal to match the behavior of V-Ray Next for 3ds Max.

I am not sure which V-Ray Next for 3ds Max you are talking about, but I just tried a stable 4.10.03 build and can reproduce it.
            The steps:
            1. Render an image with production (denoiser shouln't be enabled or even exist in the scene)
            2. Activate region rendering and select a region
            3. Create a denoiser render element and enable it
            4. Render again
            5. The pixels outside of the render region will be black in the effectsResults channel
