  • Gradient Colour Change Along a Curve - Is this possible in VRay?

    Hi

If I take a single curve set this to render curves, add a Gradient to the Shader Tree and use this as Diffuse Colour with different values, in the Modo render engine, I get a curve with the colour changing along it's length.

From a posting on the Modo forum - https://community.foundry.com/discus...content/120248

The curve has an implicit UV, so I can set the input parameter to Texture V and get the variation along it's length.

If you render in VRay, it just defaults to the first colour in the Gradient, and never changes.

Is this a way to do this in VRay please?

    Thank you

You can set the gradient type to Fur Parametric Length.
That should work in both Modo and V-Ray.

Thank you Vladimir!! You are a genius!! I'll pose your reply on the Modo forum too.

This doe do the job for me in Modo - just noticed that comparing VRay and Modo - with VRay I get a blue section at the top - where the gradient is being rest I guess? Is there a way to play with some values to be able to control and remove this effect?

The Fur Parametric Length works slightly different in V-Ray for Modo, compared to Modo, so there will be some differences.

However, I am not sure where the blue color is coming from.
Isn't the top of the head also the end of the curve, so it should be purple there ?
Can you share the scene, so I can take a look.

No problem - it's something that is easy to workaround by editing the gradient colours - Thank you for all your help. I've posted this tip in the Modo forums too - https://community.foundry.com/discus...e-from#1190893
