Distributed Rendering Animation - slaves only work on first frame

I'm using Distributed Rendering to render an animation and the slaves only contribute on the first frame. Once the first frame has finished they just stop without any apparent errors and wait for a new job. The master machine just keeps rendering the rest of the frames on it's own.
