  • .vrscene reference scaling issue

When trying to reference a .vrscene file in MODO I have to scale them down to 0.1% in size to get the reference being in the correct size. Problem with that is, that this step messes with the units of the shaders being used in the scene, especially making displacements being used in the scene way too large (Setting the global displacment option to 0.01 doesn't fix that). There is no unit option written into the .vrscene file that can be edited and also changing units in MODO or MAX don't have an effect on the scale being used in the .vrscene file. Importing the .vrscene-file is no option

If you set the system units in 3ds Max to meters, you might be able to avoid issues with scaling.
But this might require fixing the scene in 3ds Max after the change.

In Modo, you can't change the system units, they are always meters. You can change only the UI units.

In 3ds Max, there is a separate window for the system units, see screen-shot.
I can't quite remember what happens when you change them, you might have to manually rescale your objects to be the correct size for the new system units.
Which means potentially changing material/texture parameters as well.
