  • V-Ray Materials list disappear

    Hi,

I have noticed a bug in the Shader Tree present for few versions. Sometimes ( I haven't found yet the reason of the bug ), the V-Ray Materials list disappear from the Add Layer list, in the Shader Tree. I can't add anymore a Vray material by this way, and if I create another type of layer, and convert it with the Change type option, the resulting Vray Material isn't working. The only solution I have found is to close and restart Modo, and the missing elements reappear. This bug seems to appear randomly.

Yes, we've noticed this as well. The Custom Materials list with MODO's custom materials also disappears, so it seems to be some old MODO bug affecting all custom material types.
I think there was some thread on the MODO forums dating back to MODO 601 mentioning this bug.

Ouch, 601...not very serious, so I presume correcting this bug is responsibility of the Foundry ?

Yes, it should be reported to The Foundry, I don't think I can do anything about it.
Here is the forum thread I mentioned :

Yesterday I installed the beta of V-Ray to Modo 902, and I can not find the V-Ray custom material too. Is this a bug in Modo? And this bug exists since 701?!? This is unbelievable! But this is my experience with Modo in general. They are not removing known bugs over years!

          V-Ray is very impressive!

Yes, I think it is a MODO bug, because their own custom materials disappear as well. The bug is there since 601 I think, probably the version that introduced custom materials.
Both MODO's and V-Ray's custom materials should come back after you restart MODO. If they don't, it is another bug ( one I haven't seen).

Just start a thread in this forum.
It can be one thread per issue, or all issues in one thread, however you want.
One thread per issue will make it easier to discuss each separately.

This page allows you to search only specific sub-forums : http://forums.chaosgroup.com/search.php?search_type=1
In case you want to check if the issue has arisen before. But don't worry to just post them.

                Greetings,
