    Hello People,

thx for the nice work on vray for modo so far ...

But here is something I have no clue of, how can I handle this?

Sorry about the cutoff on the right side (uploading homepage standard size)

Any Idea where these Freckles come from? Is it from the Tesselation of Geometry, if it is where can I refine it?

I'm happy with any kind of help ...

    Hello!

I couldn't reproduce this result so far. May I have a look at your V-Ray GI settings? What material do you use? Anything particular about the light - subdivs, directionality? Please, post a screenshot with your custom settings or better send me a scene at margarita.stoeva@chaosgroup.com

    Thank you!

      Hello!

Thank you Peter for sending the scene.
The freckles appear because your both Primary and Secondary GI engines are set to Light Cache and the default settings are not sufficient in this case. You can lower the Light Cache sample size to 0.004 and set the Filter size to Fixed, filter size 0.02 (in Light Cache - advanced). This cleared the render in my tests.
Another approach is to use Brute Force or Irradiance Map for Primary engine, and Light Cache for Secondary engine only. However Light Cache works faster.
You can read more about it here http://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/V...l+Illumination

      Best regards,
      Margarita

Oh, sorry Margarita I forgot to set it on Light Cache and Brute ... normally my standard settings, but I had to set up a sample scene fast because I couldn't use the original file. It is not mine to show the content around.
I'm still having this problem, I'll try to isolate the part in the original file and send it to you once again

          Hello, Peter!

I had a look at your second scene. Some maps are missing but I think I could be able to help you.
I can see that you use the Light Cache as primary engine and the Brute Force as secondary engine, which is the opposite of what I would do. Anyway, the black splotches that appear in the dark areas are there because you don't have enough light samples for the primary rays. To fix this you need to increase the Light Cache subdivs to lets say 1300. Then, to reduce the render time, you can lower the Brute Force Subdivs from 32 to 8, and the EIS from 200 to 8 - at least they don't contribute much in the scene you sent me. You can also lower the AA Max subdivs. Tell me if these settings work out for your complete scene or there is more to tweak.
I forwarded your scenes to Vladimir so he would be able to give more suggestions when he's available.

          Best regards,
          Margarita

Like Margarita suggested, the Primary Engine should be either "Brute Force" or "Irradiance Map".
I think the "Light cache" option for Primary Engine is there mostly for debugging the light cache options.
At some point I should add a drop-down with the Quick presets like in Max/Maya for Interior/Exterior/etc... which automatically switch between the best set of Primary/Secondary engines.
