  • Refraction glossiness doesn't work correctly with backplate image

Recently I have worked on a project where I needed to fit an architectural rendering into a backplate photo. I have put the backplate as environment image set to "front projection". It seems V-Ray materials refraction glossiness doesn't work correctly in this situation. It blurs correctly HDRI environment set to spherical projection and but not my ldr image set to front projection. I attache also as example my temporary solution - a plane with vray ligh mtl. It would be even easier to setup wit modo 902 new features (I am still on 801) but it is not perfect - doesn't work with shadowcatcher as environment does.

    Hello!
Thank you for your report, I reproduced the problem and logged it into our bug tracking system.
I guess there is more to be done with the front projection. For now I can suggest using the other projection types where convenient or as you did it - a plane with VRayLightMtl.

    Best regards,
    Margarita
