  • Netowrk Rendering--Vray not found

    Hi,
I can render with V-ray fine locally, but when I submit a network render via Deadline, I get an error saying V-ray is not found. Any ideas?
Using the beta web-based license server.
Running on a PC, Win 7 Enterprise, Modo 902, Deadline 7.
    Thanks,
    Nick

Can you show some screen-shots ?

I haven't tested Deadline myself. I guess you have V-Ray for MODO installed on each machine ?

      Hi!
Yes, both machines have modo installed and can render locally no problem.

Yes, but is V-Ray for MODO installed ? What happens if you start MODO manually on the second machine ? Can you render with V-Ray ?

The vray.render command can be missing for 3 reasons
        - V-Ray for MODO is not installed
        - V-Ray for MODO is disabled from MODO menu -> System -> Kit toggle enabled
        - MODO tries to load the wrong version of V-Ray for MODO (shouldn't really happen unless there is a bug)

Yes, Vray for modo is installed and can render in modo in workstation mode. I'll check that the kit is turned on in render mode, but I'm assuming it already is if vray renders without Deadline.

Looks like it's all installed properly. I'm checking Deadline options to see if I missed something there.

Not sure how Deadline works, but maybe it uses MODO Command Line (modo_cl.exe).
This command line version of MODO has a separate global .cfg file.
Something like "MODO_CL901.CFG" in the %appdata% directory of the current user.
It is possible to disable the V-Ray for MODO plug-in only for this command line version. Maybe deleteing the mentioned .cfg file can fix the problem.
