  • DR Rendering Could not obtain a license (-61) on render node

    Hello,

I am trying to get DR working between my Imac 5K, and an older mac pro.

I have went through the steps that are outlined here:http://forums.chaosgroup.com/showthr...Setup-Mac-OS-X

and have checked to make sure my localhost:30304 is running correctly which it is.

I have also started and succesfully ran vray on both the Imac, and mac pro.

When I kick off a render that tries to use the render node, I get the following in my terminal on the mac pro (render node)

[2016/Apr/22|22:30:12] Starting DR session from 10.0.1.15
[2016/Apr/22|22:30:12] Receiving DR scene from 10.0.1.15
    [2016/Apr/22|22:30:12] Reading scene file "/var/folders/ps/c6kslhm57ms4gp5cg_2g9rdw0000gr/T/vrscene_sgCjIn.txt"
[2016/Apr/22|22:30:12] Scene file parsed successfully in 0.0 s.
    [2016/Apr/22|22:30:12] Scene created successfully.
    [2016/Apr/22|22:30:12] Objects in scene: 41
    [2016/Apr/22|22:30:12] Starting render sequence.
    [2016/Apr/22|22:30:12] Preparing renderer...
[2016/Apr/22|22:30:12] error: Could not obtain a license (61).
[2016/Apr/22|22:30:12] Closing DR session from 10.0.1.15

    I am using the 3.01.01 revision 26369, and the vrlservice_osx_4.0.0-beta_94 with Modo 9.0.2 sp3

Would love to get access to the nightly builds, but I haven't heard back from support yet

Anyone else experiencing similar problems? Any ideas on what to troubleshoot next would be greatly appreciated.

If you can render separately on each machine, but not with DR on both, this probably means that you have only one render license.
Each machine needs its own render license.
The license server at http://localhost:30304/#/online will tell you how many licenses are engaged/free.
You need to look for the V-Ray Render Node 3.0 Beta license type.

I think the beta registration form has a field to enter how many render licenses you want.
You can write an e-mail to support@chaosgroup.com with your chaosgroup.com account time to request them to add more to your account.

I'm pretty sure I have two render nodes?

Here is a screenshot of my server

How did you setup the online license server -
        a) running on one machine like suggested in the link
        b) running on each machine

If you chose a), have you tried rendering with V-Ray from within MODO on the render node ?
If this works, but vray.bin doesn't, it might be a firewall that's blocking vray.bin from contacting the license server on the main machine.

          Vladimir,

I used a), and when I try to render from within modo, I am getting an error -200 could not obtain a license as well.

I have also opened up ports 30304, and 20207 on my network to point to the license server, and the render node respectively.

Not sure what to try, or troubleshoot next?

          Thanks,

          Scott

In your user folder there should be a folder called ".ChaosGroup", inside there is a file called "vrlclient.xml".
On the render node, what are the values in this file. Are they correctly referring to the main machine where the online license server is running ?

If not, and you are sure you entered the correct values during the installation on the render node, it probably means the ".ChaosGroup" folder is owned by the incorrect user
and the installation can't modify the file. Try deleting the folder and running the V-Ray for MODO installation again.
