  • Crash selecting lights in this scene

I was taking a look at an older scene someone posted on the modo forums and discovered that vray crashes when a light is selected.

I stripped the scene to a bare minimum so you can take a look.

Load the scene then select the first light in the "lumieries" folder. Modo will crash. I'm using modo 10.1 and vray 26623

The crash is actually in the MODO code. It crashes when V-Ray for MODO tries to add its "V-Ray Light" package to the light.
You can disable the automatic adding of the "V-Ray Light" package and recreate the lights, as it seems there is something wrong with them.

If you want to reproduce the crash without V-Ray, so you can report it to The Foundry:
    1. disable the V-Ray for MODO plug-in
    2. restart MODO
    3. open the scene
    4. select one of the lights
    5. go to Dynamics -> Make Active Rigid Body, MODO will crash

I am not sure it makes any sense to make a light an active rigid body, but it adds a package to the light, which is how the crash happens.

Thanks Vladimir. You're right. I'll report it. You can just select the light > display > add note (or any of the display packages) and you see the crash
