RT GPU stops with CUDA error 500.

I can start the RT GPU on my 2013 iMac with NVIDIA gpu, it renders for a few seconds and then I always get this error.

"./src/ocl_tracedevice.cpp(3281) : CUDA error 500 : a named symbol was not found"

Do you have light cache enabled ? The few seconds rendering might be the light cache being computed on the CPU ?

Is that the official 3.40.01 build ?
Can you try updating your GPU drivers ?
What GPU do you have on the iMac ?

Ah, I updated the NVIDIA drivers and that solved it. Easy fix. The iMac has GeForce 780M 4 GIg.

Oh, I forgot to mention that the demo version I'm evaluating with is 3.40.01.

I did download the standalone demo version so I could see how it works. I noticed that it's 3.40.03 and contained an OpenCL GPU option. For the heck of it I tried it, but it said after trying to do an initial compile it failed to work. It would be cool if an OpenCL version were available. As a user I hate being caught in the middle of this CUDA/OpenCL battle Apple is having.

The OpenCL version of the code doesn't quite work under Mac OS X yet.
I hear our GPU devs are working with Apple to resolve this, but not sure when that will happen.

Also, for now at least, it's always better to use CUDA with nVidia cards.
