  • Problems with activating Vray

I have my Vray render node borrowed for offline use on one machine, but now I can't get a licence on my online machine.
Does this mean that "V-Ray 3.0 for Modo" is just an interface and it will need a "V-Ray Render Node 3.0" to be able to render? If I check the licence server and I click the Vray render node, I see that it's licence is engaged, which is normal because I borrowed that one. But when I click Vray Modo, I see two entries, the first is Vray for Modo 3, which is free, the second is V-Ray Render Node 3.0, which is engaged.

This leads me to believe I have only one render node which I can use for either Vray for Modo or as a render node.

    Cheers, Simon

    Hi Simon,

The "workstation" license package contains one interface license - that allows you to use the V-Ray interface inside MODO and one Universal Render Node license that allows you to render on one node - either the Workstation itself on another node - please see pt. 1.2 here - https://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/...ense+Agreement
Borrowing licenses is needed only when there isn't currently Internet connection on the node or you expect to use it off-line.

In order to render on more than one machine simultaneously additional Universal Render Node license should be obtained

Regarding license settings - please see the following:
    https://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/...line+Licensing
