  • VFB annoyances, bugs and feature requests

The VFB is very cool, but there are a few annoyances/bugs/feature requests I'm hoping will be looked at.

    1. Top toolbar load/save image and color correction background image, LUT, OCIO, ICC sections - Clicking load/save doesnt open the file browser to the last used directory
Every time I want to load a LUT or save an image, I have to go browsing through all my directories again. This is pretty annoying.

    2. No easy way to reset all color corrections at once.
If you start a new scene, you have to reset all the previous settings. You should be able to click globals > reset all.
My workaround: Reset each section manually, then click globals > save, and call the preset Reset All.vccglb. Load this preset every time you need to reset everything.

    3. If you resize the VFB panel smaller, the top toolbar buttons get cut off by the stop/render button and there is no way to scroll to see the hidden buttons.
I have it docked in my modo layout at a smallish size, and need to resize it larger each time I want to access hidden buttons (eg. render region)

    4. Undocked windows (history, color corrections etc), don't always remember positions

    5. Undocked windows sometimes go off the screen so you can't see them to move them.
Only a modo restart will reset the positions. This is rare but it's happened a couple of times.

    6. Top toolbar buttons like "save channel" have a click/hold to see other options, but there is no tooltip so you can't tell what they do.
You have to actually select the option, cancel, then hover over the button to see the tooltip.

    7. Color corrections background image, LUT, OCIO, ICC sections - load and clear button text is cropped so you cant read the labels.
It took me a little while to figure out the second button was "clear"

    8. No obvious way to undock lens effects. The history and color correction panel have a button/menu to undock.
I found an undocumented way of doing it. Click the button to open it, then right click the same button to undock it.

    EDIT: Some more...

    9. No easy way to toggle all corrections on/off
Modo's render window has a global checkbox called "image processing" which toggles all processing off. Something like this is needed in VFB

I would like to bump this because everything here still applies.

Fantastic thread Funk. I hope and other users provide us feedback for the VFB.

10 - Drawing a region in the VFB shortly after starting RT freezes Modo, and the only way to get Modo back is to close it through the Task Manager and relaunching it. I don't know if it happens for someone else but it's very annoying.

          Windows 10 1607
          Modo 11.1v1

            Hey, Pierre

Thank you for the post.To avoid the behavior go to V-Ray Mian tab and disable the denoiser OR set "0" to "Image effect update freq" option as well. We're working to fix it. Keep you posted.

            Happy rendering !

              Hey Boyan,

Thank you for the tip, I didn't knew the bug is triggered by the denoiser.
