  • Vray 3.5201 Not working in Modo 11

As the topic says, as soon as I add a model in Layout and try to render, Modo starts to stutter and refresh, between pauses and white screens that make it impossible to use.
This doesn't happen in Modo 10.

    regards,

    Hey Afecelis,

Thank you for the post. Can you add a screenshot or send me scene file, if it possible?

    Cheers,

      Hi Boyan,

I just checked and it's a Modo11-related issue. I uninstalled Vray for Modo, opened Modo 11 and dropped the "camelboy" model in layout from "meshes" and the program froze and started stuttering and blinking. I guess this report goes on the Modo forums instead
Please close/remove this thread if possible.

      regards,

      Alvaro Celis

ps. One last question, can Vray RT be used for as production renderer? Or is final rendering only to be done with the CPU?

This is usually caused by copying the main MODO cfg file located in "%appdata%/Luxology" from an older version of MODO to the new one. Try deleting it so MODO is reset to its stock settings.

You can use the "Render with V-Ray Standalone" command from the V-Ray menu to render an animation or a single frame using RT GPU in its "production" mode, i.e. in this mode on-demand mipmapping is available as well as light cache for secondary GI.

Thank you Vlad. I hadn't read this post and I asked the same question about GPU as a production renderer yesterday. I appreciate the detailed explanations.

will we be able to render animations inside modo in the future rather then needing to do stand alone? note im on the mac version if that matters

Yes, and you can already do it for non-GPU rendering.
