  • RT GPU crash using fast sss2 and override material

There are 2 different ways to crash using attached scene

    MODO 11.1 453071
    V-Ray 3.52.01 27662

    1. Load attached scene into the "render v-ray" layout
    2. Start RT GPU

RESULT: CUDA error 700. Modo requires a restart for RT GPU to work again.

These steps actually crash my video drivers:

    1. Load attached scene into the "render v-ray" layout
    2. Select the shader tree > test > V-Ray override material, and disable it
    3. Start RT GPU
    4. Enable the V-Ray override material

RESULT: Soon after my video drivers crash

I tested this in modo nightly build 28908, and the initial CUDA 700 crash doesnt happen. But when I try the second set of steps (or editing the fast sss material by enabling scatter GI), I get a different crash instead.

I'm getting this on the latest build of Vray with new Nvidia drivers. Nasty hang then crash.

I can reproduce the crash with V-Ray Next as well.
No need for GPU driver info.
I will take a look how it can be fixed.

This should be fixed in the nightly build from 2019.02.17 .
