  • VRay Standalone & Environment Images

    Hi

I recently uploaded a render to GarageFarm, and it had a standard MODO smart IBL environment attached with it. Comparing the render that came back with the identical project rendered on my machine, look as if the environment was missing from the GarageFarm render.

They have a tool so the VRay vrscene file automatically gets uploaded. Is this something that I can adjust under VRay settings, ro does this issue lie with GarageFarm?

    Many thanks!

It's probably a different version of the V-Ray Standalone that they are using.
Is there a log that they give back to you, i.e. the output of V-Ray Standalone. It should state the version in the beginning.

        Hi

An update - I did another render on a new project, with the same results. I emailed GarageFarm to alert them, and also requested a log file, but they never responded. Are Chaos Group in touch with them (as they are listed on your website as a recommended render farm)?

        Thanks

I am not in contact with them.
Maybe send an e-mail to support@chaosgroup.com , they might know how to contact them.

The render farm must have the official V-Ray for MODO version installed, and use the V-Ray Standalone provided with that version (it's under the vraysl directory in the V-Ray for MODO installation folder).
Using any other V-Ray Standalone (from 3dsMax, Maya, or the standalone V-Ray Standalone) is bound to give you a different result somewhere.
We have a lot of plug-ins which get released at different times and will contain different fixes.

Actually can you try rendering using V-Ray Standalone on your machine, from V-Ray menu -> Render with V-Ray Standalone and check if the result is different compared to rendering the same scene inside MODO ?
If it is, then it's some sort of bug with the conversion to .vscene, which will need fixing.

                    Hi Vladimir

Thanks for the helpful replies. The results I get in MODO (using VRay RT) and also with VRay Standalone on my machine are both consistent and render as expected. I sent Boyan the file, and he spotted that the colour space was different in the version rendered at GarageFarm - I thikn the redner came back with a linear RGB space instead of sRGB.

They have an autouploader which takes the vrscene file, but I can't recall if you can set the colour space in there. Next time, I'll pay close attention and report back to you!

                    Many thanks
