Thank you for the responses.Well, from what I see into your /etc/profile file it seems fine to me. The GPU gtx 980TI is being set properly to work with the V-Ray RT GPU.
Ah ok, so really I?m just out of luck because it won?t work. So the envpane will help me write an environment variable, which confuses the monkeys out of me. Would you happen to know how I would set an env variable in that window screenshot I provided?
I've been checked the eGPU - 1060Ti with MAC OS X and with proper setup of the card, without to find the issue at all. I think the eGPU setup is the reason to have this message. Also, please check and update the drivers. I've made the tests with around 60 Mil GL without crash or message at all.
Thank you.
Ok, so how can I start again? How can I put the gpu setting back to the original via terminal etc and then after I?ve done that, out of all the options you have given me, which is the best to do? I?m grateful for all your help. Using the gpu would be brilliant.
Thanks again
Gregg
Ok so it didn't work Please find attached what I have from the different windows. When I do the ocldeviceselect.bin. method I do change it but when I do the same things again just to check, it has both gpus ticked again. Im so confused.
After you use the tool, it will modify your "/etc/profile" file, but this file needs to be reloaded by Terminal/macOS for the environment variable to actually change.
Without the reload, when you start the tool again, it shows the selected state according to the old environment variable value.
If you restart the Terminal app, or even better macOS, you might see the new value.
But still I am not sure the newest versions of macOS even respect the profile file when starting applications from the Dock.
It's a mess basically.
Instead, in Terminal, execute the following commands export VRAY_OPENCL_PLATFORMS_x64="980"
cd /Applications/MODO 11.1v1/Contents/MacOS
./modo
This will set the environment variable and start MODO immediately.
You need to change the path to MODO based on your MODO version number and where you installed it.
Hopefully this will get you going.
You can add the commands to a bash script, so you don't have to copy paste them each time you need to start MODO.
Its not working guys. I honestly give up. I don't really understand most of what I'm doing and I keep having to come back on here and ask what each thing I'm trying to do means etc etc. I will just use Octane for my GPU and Vray with the CPU because Im at a loss with what I'm doing because nothing seems to work and half I don't understand. I appreciate all your efforts guys Thank you so much
Disable the GT 650M, and use one the external GPU only. The Error message pop-up when you're used both of them. I can see that in a log - third image. There are two CUDA devices in the log. You can try also to change the priority of GPUs - make eGPU - 1 and built-in - 2.
That?s whats what i have been trying to do, disable vray using the 650m but it won?t seem to work. How do I change the priorities of the gpu? Thank you
