Hi vlad, I know where the volume grid properties are I just didn't know if I could change them etc via the freeze and env fog boyan mentioned. There is a post in the modo forum where a user exported each part of the vdb as separate files and then edited them in modo. As a work around for now I will export each part i.e. smoke and temp as separate files and freeze them. then hopefully boyan will have some enhancements for the cloud rendering I could play with as to edit each party of the frozen vdb geo. you guys are so helpful, thanks

Smoke and temp are 3D textures (volume grids), once you freeze them, they become a simple surface.
So, no, you can't achieve the same thing that you can with the V-Ray Volume Grid.

          Hey, Greg.

Sorry for delay check the attached files. Check the scale of geometry, maps and Fog distance. In the file you can find - V-Ray Environment for|| V-Ray volume material || V-Ray volume grid - !!! check the passes and pass groups cloud_test_2.zip
If you want more puffy clouds increase the Emission Multiplier into Env. Fog properties and V-Ray Volume properties.
          Cheers,

I tested 2 vdbs in modo and found a solution. Before I import the vdb I uncheck the show bounding box and its worked.

Boyan - I will check out your download now. Just wanted to share my findings. Thanks

Thanks Boyan - Gonna Keep your file as reference

Ps - how would I add more wispiness and broken noise to the clouds Boyan if using the texture etc? IE -

Yep, that's on my mind and I've been looked for that

Not sure but I'm guessing something with opacity and opacity texture should be workable.

You can check also Volume grid - Diffuse options rollout

Nothing fancy in the file btw.

              Cheers,

The crash with the OpenGL preview should be fixed in the 2018.03.16 nightly build.
