  • V-Ray Hair and Fur

I am trying to play with hair / fur in modo using Vray 3.6. I add a V-Ray Hair and V-Ray Material layer but get no hair. There doesn't even seem to be any mention of hair length in the layers. Im obviously missing something in my shader tree . . .could anyone enlighten me
( i never got it going in previous version of vary and now its starting to bug me . . )

    Regards

It may be confusing to someone used to the Modo fur.

    The V-Ray Hair is a material (that's why it's under V-Ray Materials).

The V-Ray Fur generator is an item added in the Item List from Add Item -> V-Ray Geometry -> V-Ray Fur.
This item wasn't available in the 3.52 (the previous official) version of the plug-in.
I am attaching a very simple scene for it.
You can check the docs too : https://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/...ur+%7C+VRayFur

Now, if you want to use Modo Fur, you have to enable the Modo Render Cache API to be used by V-Ray.
Note that this may be unstable and it's buggy from the Modo side, so not something we can fix.
Also V-Ray Fur will be much faster to export to V-Ray especially if you have a lot of hairs.

Thanks Vladimir, at last I understand how it works - I never knew there were Vray items!!
