  • Normal/Displacement Maps Sometimes Rendering

    Hi

I've got a fairly heavy scene - the only settings I've changed from the default VRay settings are:

+ GI - Primary Engine = Irradiance Map
+ Main Settings - Sampler Type = Adaptive

I have a displacement map and a normal map for a large mesh (in my scene 816,000 polys in Catmull-Clarke).

Im the VRay RT render preview view within MODO 12.0v1 the preview sometimes displays the maps correctly, and sometimes does not. I seem to have to toggle the maps on and off and start and stop the RT preview until it wants to display the maps.

When the maps are NOT displaying in the RT render, they also don't appear in a VRay Standalone render.

In writing this, and doing some tests, I can't get either maps to display in the VRay RT render, but using a MODO material and goign to the MODO native render engine, the normal map does appear - please see attached.

    Any help greatly appreciated!!
    Thank you
    Pali

I reloaded the maps and noticed that the UV maps where getting set to 'Texture', and not 'suit', and then I remembered this happening before and Vladimir's very helpful reply and advice to delete 'Texture' and it all works ok now!!
