    Hi,
Are you using the installer or the zip installation?
The installer should take care of such problems, but if you are using the zip installation then you should set up your system accordingly - check out https://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/...IPFile-Windows

Definitely using the installer and not the zip package which is why it perplexes me. The only change to my system has been then I went from nuke 12.1v2 to 12.1v4 and then rolled back to 12.1v2 I reinstalled vray for nuke after each install.

Trying to understand the exact scenario and reason to happen might take a while. Obviously the log reports that the problem is the missing environment variable (normally set by the installer) so one easy way to solve it is simply to force it.
It should point to the folder containing the vray plugins dll.

Now if we want to understand how/why, the first thing would be to double check the current evar set on your system and confirm if that variable is definitely missing (for whatever reason).
We can also have a look at the installation log - it should normally be at C:\Program Files\Chaos Group\V-Ray\Nuke 12.1\uninstall\install.log. In it we should see the entry ENV CREATE VRAY_FOR_NUKE_12_1_PLUGINS.
I don't really expect to see any issue with the installer though.
