Could you please provide an estimate? We are about to upgrade some of the projects in the office to Revit 2018 and not having the option to render with Vray would be a total nightmare.
Also, do you know if your team is currently working in a way to have Vray Proxies? Or a way to use proxies created in other apps like 3ds max? Maybe Rhino? That would be an amazing feature
Will there be this type of delay every year with the Revit update or are you guys planning on issuing the update at the same time as Autodesk in the future?
Usually our releases don't coincide with Autodesk official releases. Technically, to release our update, we need a couple of weeks after an Autodesk release. This time can vary depending on the issues we face.
The issue is Autodesk issued an update to Revit 2018 on April 12 and now were going on mid June 2 mo's later. It's understandable that you can't work on your update until after Autodesk releases their update, but in the mean time it means either holding off on updating Revit or updating Revit and not being able to use Vray. More likely means holding off on updating Revit. I have no idea what goes in to updating Vray every year, but having to wait 2mo's+ with no idea of when the release will happen is a pretty long time. I have done the trial and am ready to buy a license, but have already updated Revit to 2018 and having to face this wait to update Revit every year for this long is giving me second thoughts. Vray is by far the best renderer for Revit I've found so it would be a shame to have to go with another product!
We understand that holding off on updating Revit is something you would like to avoid. We admit that this release is delayed way too long and the reason is that we've hit too many obstacles in the path. We will learn from this experience and we'll do our best to provide quicker updates for the future.
The build is around the corner, we really hope that we'll be able to release until the end of the next week, hopefully everything will happen as planed this time.
Thanks for the reply Ana, understanding that his is the first Revit update that you guys are doing we really hope the following ones will be smoother and that YOU guys don't get discouraged by this. We have several projects already on the 2018 platform and with 1/4 of the Revit 2018 life expired it is clear that these updates will have to be if anything locked to a date that we can work and plan for. Can you comment on availability of Vray Scans for Revit 2018? Please and thank you.
