  • VRscene export bugs

    Hello,

Exporting a VRscene has some problems when the output folder or filename contains accented characters, like: á, é, í, ő, etc.

For example if my export folder looks like this:
    "E:\_REVIT\TEST FOLDER á é ű Á É Ú I Ó"

VRay for revit "Message and Warnings" window gives me this message:
    V-Ray: File "E:\_REVIT\TEST FOLDER áéű ÁÉÚÍÓ\scene_export_test.vrscene" exported

The file in size looks accurate, but the when the file was exported like this, placing the VRscene into 3DS Max the placed VRscene object is empty, it does not show anything.
The problem is not loading the file, because if the export happens without a problem (without accented characters in the path or filename), and I rename the file to accented characters, or copy it to a path with accented characters, 3DS Max loads it without a problem.

The problem only occurs during exporting. So if my project folder does have accented characters, I always have to save the file to a folder which does not, and then copy the VRscene file to the desired place, if I want to be able to use it.

An other problem is that VRscene export does not recognize the file unit scale, it always gets exported in Feet unit, so if I want to have correct scale in 3DS max, I have to rescale the VRscene object, and like this, scale of the textures does not match in 3ds max and Revit. We use Metric System so for our projects we usually use Centimeters or Meters.

Do you have any suggestion how to solve this problem,

    Regards,

    Hi Gabor,

Thank you for reporting the problem with the .vrscene export. Our developers will look at it.
As for the export units - this is something that we don't have control over. Revit's native units are imperial not metric. Even when you see metric units, there are imperial underneath which are converted. We will double check for a solution.
