  • Revit could not complete the external command: x must be a finite number

Encountering the error shown, and rendering will not proceed / exporting data won't complete.

So far, this is impacting one model, but other models render OK... Unfortunately, this is the model we need to render!

Any thoughts on how to resolve this one?

    Hi bmwarch,

We will need the Revit journal file to investigate the problem.
    1. Run V-Ray on Revit and reproduce the error
    2. After the error pops up, navigate to: C:\Users\<your username>\AppData\Local\Autodesk\Revit\Autodesk Revit Architecture 20**\Journals, where 20** is your Revit version; and AppData usually is a hidden directory, so you will need to unhide it.
    3. This folder contains Revit journal files. Order them by date and send us the most recent one. Note that the Revit journal file does not contain information about your project etc., it only contains data related to the correct/incorrect program functioning as well as errors which might have occurred.

Please, send the journal at support@chaosgroup.com along with the screenshot you have attached here. Write my name under e-mail subject.

Our team is looking forward to receiving the file so that we can assist you with this issue.
