  • GPU rendering error

    Hey there
I have a problem when I try to use CUDA or GPU for rendering
I get these errors a lot "attached photos" especially the one that says "could not initialize the GPU for rendering"
    even that sometimes it works
like literary the same shot with the same setting did successfully render the first time but when I tried to rerender it I got these errors
    I use Revit 2022 - 51020 and Geforce RTX 3060

I hope you can help me with this issue

    thanks a lot in advance

It looks like you're running out of memory. How big is your scene?
Is that hybrid rendering or GPU-only?

      I don't think so
I use GPU Geforce RTX 3060 which is 12 gb
      27" monitor
      and tried both
      GPU only or Cuda hybrid
      both not working
only CPU rendering working but it takes really very much more time to render with it than the hybrid

We'll need to look at the problematic project then, and attempt to reproduce the issue on our end. Will you be able to share the project + all accompanying assets with us?

          ok I can share
it's kind of an unfinished huge project though
it could be because of the size of it
          not sure

One more thing before sharing it though. Can you make sure you're using the latest drivers? (This should be checked on NVidia's official website: https://www.nvidia.co.uk/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-uk)
If not, you need to update the drivers.

Another thing -> what did you do after you received the error? Have you attempted to restart Revit? You need to.

yes I already checked and I'm sure I'm using the latest drivers

also, I did try restarting the Revit and restarted the whole PC
              didn't fix the problem

We'll then need to test the project.

                    Hi again arch_mado ,

                    Please, try the following:
                    1. Close Revit
                    2. Find the VRayPlugins.json file located in C:\Users\<your username>\AppData\Roaming\Chaos Group\V-Ray for Revit 2022
                    3. Open the file with a text editing program (f.e. Notepad)
                    4. Find the following parameter: OpenclResizeTextures which is set to 0
                    5. Set it to 2
                    6. Save the file
                    7. Open Revit and render

                    Best,
                    Ana

ok here is how I fixed it

I found that the problem is the memory for the fur as it's a big project with kind of wide green areas
so when I turn the fur off,,, the Cuda or GPU rendering works fine
it appears that I had too much amount of fur
so I reduced the "count/area" and it worked fine
