  • Render Bug?

I definitely did not model or see any rows of floating glass panels in my model (right side of the image). Is this a bug???

    That's interesting.
Can you PM me with a link to download your revit file, so I can take a look at it? It would just be for internal testing purposes.

As much as I want to, I am not allowed to share office files. But this also happened before. I had an issue where a copy of the balcony railings are floating above the actual railings

        Hmmm
It's hard to diagnose without getting my hands on it directly, but I can think of a few things to check:
        • Do you have the latest version of V-Ray for Revit?
        • Open the view in Revit to make sure there isn't anything there
        • Do you have a section box enabled? Does the problem persist if you turn the section box off?
        • Do you know what these are in the model? It looks like they are supposed to be part of the scene just rendering in the wrong place. If you can, can you try adjusting them slightly to see if they still render incorrectly?
        • Are these part of a linked file?
        • Could they be on a different phase perhaps?
        • Does the problem persist if you use global material overrides?
        • If you try exporting the file as an fbx, does the problem show up in the file?
        • Is it possible to isolate the problem to just a couple pieces of geometry that you could send us without worrying about intellectual property rights?

These are a few things I can think of to try. This definitely looks like a bug. If there is anything you can send me that repeats the issue, that would be the most helpful so I can get it to the developers.

I have the latest version installed (3.50.02)
Pretty sure there is no walls of glass in my model
          Section box is not enabled
It looked like a glass door to me, but I don't have a door like that modeled in rows
Yes, the buildings are lined files. I checked each file and there is no floating glass wall modeled
I'm not using phasing in my model

I would think that it is a bug. There is supposed to be a concrete column at the end of the concrete wall (fence), but for some reason it didn't show up in the rendering (see attached image). In fact, some of the concrete columns did not show up in the rendering at all.

            Hi Andrew,

            1. Have you tried to render it in Revit for reference if those glass pieces will appear there as well. If not, this is definitely a bug.
            2. By any chance, have you used Array to multiply any glass door or window?
            3. It could be a problem in the glass door family itself... Since you said the houses are linked files, can you please remove the corner house and re-render?

            Best,
            Ana

Here'a a revit render, vray render (corner bldg removed), and vray render (2 corner bldgs removed)

We can assume that the problem is in the bldg at the far back, but why is the concrete posts in the fence gets affected by all these? That concrete fence is not linked file by the way.

                Andrew,

This looks like it is replacing the concrete posts with a glass panel component from that one linked model. This bug looks to be very unique/specific to certain scenes and thus very hard to reproduce ourselves from scratch. Is there any way you could get at least part of the scene to us? Perhaps if you isolate just the concrete wall and posts in the base model and isolate the glass panels in the linked model, it may still have the same information to reproduce the bug, and it could be a file you could send us without any sensitive information attached.
