  • Fur Workflow Update 1

Can someone help me understand the new fur workflow added to Update 1. I have substituted a Revit material with a VRay grass material and would like to apply fur but cannot find just where to apply it.

    Thanks for all assistance.

    Hello Bob,

You need to create the Fur in the Asset Editor. After that, you will find it in the same drop-down menu you assign materials from. Check the gif on this page.
Let us know if you need further help.

Hi all. This is not an answer to OP, but it's very much about the workflow of the fur tool. I am having issues with creating dense grass. Even if I create a fur geometry and apply it to a texture, it will only have a few strands here and there. Dialing up the Count (Area) slider seems to help a bit, but even if it's in the max value, I still don't get a dense grass and it's especially clear in close up shots. I'm using Revit 2020 and the latest version of Vray. I'm wondering if there is a best practice guide somewhere for creating good looking grass in V-ray.

        Hi Jani,

What geometry do you apply the fur to? Is it a toposurface?
Also, can you send me a simplified scene with the grass setup, the geometry it is applied to plus the camera?

And one question in addition: how do you increase the Fur density? Are you using the slider or you input a value in the field?
