  • ACEScg in V-Ray for Revit

I am interested in exploring using an ACEScg colour space workflow in V-Ray for Revit.

There is a note in the Docs regarding switching the Flimic Tonemap to the ACEScg colour space, but I am unsure how to switch the render engine colour management or material primaries (as one would in 3Ds for example).

Is there any further documentation planned for this workflow?

Using ACEScg as rendering color space is not supported at the moment, in V-Ray for Revit
We are discussing exposing the controls for this, similar to 3Ds Max. Revit's workflow is a bit different than 3Ds Max, so there needs to be changes to how Revit implements this.

      Thanks for the update.

So to confirm, the Docs regarding switching the Flimic Tonemap to the ACEScg colour space in Revit are redundant?

It is not recommended to swap the filmic tonemap layer to ACEScg, you can leave it at default for now
If you swap it to ACEScg, it expects an EXR with ACEScg primaries (which is not possible at the moment)
Once we have the controls for ACES exposed in the UI, I will update the docs with a guide on using ACES color management(will be updating Maya and Max's docs soon)
