The way photometric files are handled has been changed. Defining paths to them is not necessary anymore, so we removed them from the UI.
Your V-Ray for Revit is working correctly.

          1. Check the path to the photometric file in Revit.
          2. Select the lighting fixture and go to "Edit family", check if the light source is placed out of the lighting fixture geometry. If it is inside the geometry, move it out.

Would be better if you can show us some screenshots or a video illustrating the problem. Otherwise we can only guess

Does the photometric web work if its inside a transparent/translucent/lightemitting material? Like a globe fixture? Or does it need to be outside of the geometry completely? Please clarify thanks.

Yes, the photometric web works when placed inside a transparent/translucent/lightemitting geometry. Whether you place it inside or outside the lighting fixture geometry depends on your design intentions; it works in both cases.
We've published a useful tutorial about lighting here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JS-QFmyV3xQ

Does anyone have a view on how IES and PHPP softawe compare and what parameters drive any differences in the results?
