There is a material editor included, however it doesn't show in the start menu. Look in the install directory
    ....V-ray\V-ray 3.4 for Revit\content\vrmateditor.

You can google and download a heap of vismat materials which the editor can save as vrmat.

I love the standalone material editor. I wish it would come as a separate download for every edition of VRay. I am able to use it with 3DS Max just because I have a VRay Demo. However, it runs off the VRay Revit license I believe.

Can you explain a little bit why you prefer it? It's quite possible for us to include it with every V-Ray version, or at least to make it a separate download, but I'm curious why people would use it.

        Best regards,
        Vlado

          Yes,absolutely.
I use it with 3DS Max and I tend to use the VRayVrmatMtl material node within max. You then have to open the VRay material editor to create what you want, save this file as a vrmat. , and then load it back into the node. I prefer to use the VRay material editor because to me, it produces far better results than the VRaymtl. Also, I have used many rendering programs, keyshot, octane, maxwell, etc. None of them provide a way to edit materials outside of the software.

I spend a lot of time in our office just creating materials to be exactly what the manufacturers produce. So to be able to just open an editor without having to load an entire 3DS Max scene is great.

The VRay Material Editor is also great because it includes the new UI scene inside of the Rhino 3 beta. Which is very sleek, clean, and responsive.

          I hope that information helped.

          Best,

          Matthew
