Vray 3.5 Materials

Hey Guys,

I have tried playing around with the new Vray materials on the weekend, however I get the following error. Is something you have put in place or is it a local restriction on my machine? I hope it's the latter, not being able to edit these materials would seriously suck!

BTW I noticed nearly all my custom materials don't work properly now with the new update, abit of a bummer.

Hi Nick,

I think you are trying to save to a read only folder. Can you try saving the vrmat to another folder?
Regarding your custom materials -> you need to upgrade them as described in the following article on our help page: https://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/...terial+library

Hey Ana,

Yes correct, the folders where the Vray materials are stored are Read Only. It appears I can "Save As" however, will this create issues with texture maps not being able to be found?

I didn't realize I had to upgrade my materials. Thanks for posting the link.

Nope. When saving a new vrmat, you can enable the "Collect external assets on save" option. This will collect copies of all textures and will save them in the same folder as the vrmat.
