I know, that's why there are private messages where I will explain you how to send us the file ; )

After analyzing the posts, I come to the conclusion that V-Ray for Revit can not render a single texture imposed on the material. Therefore, singular, that it is only once without duplication as for other materials. Applied once in Revit, he reverses. Without Postprocessing, it will be difficult to get the effect of, for example, a picture on a TV or poster on the wall. Poster for example of a single person. Sending an isolated file is pointless. It may not always be possible to send all the elements that should be attached (access paths). It may not work. That's what I thought. Maybe the creator of the software will show on an example how to do it, how to set it to get the desired effect. If, according to these rules, it does not work for someone, then the error should be on the client's side, not the software. The question is whether in V-Ray it is possible to apply a single texture to the material - an effect similar to Decal in Revit.

      Greetings, Marek.

P.S. When can we expect a new version 3.60 V-Ray for Revit?

          Hi
Are there update on this issue? I would like to place a Decal in my scene. Is there a work around to place a picture in a scene?

          Thanks, Niels

            Hi Niels,

We still don't support decals. Create a V-Ray material, assign it to a geometry and adjust the mapping from the Asset Browser (meaning the Sample Size Width & Height).

              Hi.
Ana, and maybe some movie or description of how to do it with the assignment of texture without duplication on the object - the equivalent of Revit Decal. In revita straight, insert a picture and already - one cut. Here I have to do the material. The first post showed the problem. The problem was the material shift. I did the same - I made the material without duplicating the texture - only one. Vray did not take the exact texture - he moved in the bik and he came back. So something wrong. If yo is supposed to work in Vray, show me how to do it - it does not work for me, and I do not think I read other people's posts either.
              Regards

Alright, Marek_K, here is a video illustrating 3 approaches: http://ftp.chaosgroup.com/support/V-...als_how_to.mp4

A few comments (as I've captured it on the go and haven't recorded any voice):
                1. You need to have a separate geometry
                2. The V-Ray material I'm using is just a generic material with an image assigned to the diffuse slot
Everything depends on the geometry that is used. Therefore, I've put 2 examples: the picture frame in the middle has an extruded geometry, while the one on the right-hand side is just a thin wall geometry. The difference is that on the wall geometry, you can assign a model pattern and moving the model pattern will adjust the texture position (this is shown at the end of the video). While, if you assign a model pattern to a family geometry, you will not be able to move the pattern, as it actually moves the entire family.

                So:
Approach 1: Adjust the texture positioning in the Revit material and then render with V-Ray (version 3.60.02)
Approach 2: Assign the V-Ray material to the family extruded geometry. Adjust the Offset U/V parameters under Texture Placement in the Standalone Material Editor until the picture fits to the frame.
Approach 3: Assign the V-Ray material to a wall geometry that has a model surface pattern assigned to it (Surface Pattern is located under the Graphics tab of Revit Material Browser). Simply adjust the material sample size width and height in the V-Ray Asset Browser to fit the geometry.

Let me know if something is still unclear.

                Cheers,
                Ana
