  • Hardware Recommendations

I'm looking to have a computer built for me and was wondering what is best to spend my money on. I feel like Revit utilizes CPU more so than GPU and therefore believe I should go for the fastest processor, but is this true? What about cores/threads? Is a faster quad-core better than a slower hex-core? I don't know all that much about hardware, so try and keep responses in layman's terms! The projects I work on are fairly small in scale (I'm a mostly residential Architect and file sizes rarely exceed 60MB) and currently have no problems modeling with a Surface Pro 4, but rendering on this machine is almost pointless. I'd like to build a desktop that handles rendering with vray for revit really well.

    Thank you in advance

    Hi LTA,

We avoid recommending specific hardware, as rendering time depends on scene size and complexity as well.
You can measure your machine's performance using the V-Ray Benchmark free app. More info can be found here: https://www.chaosgroup.com/vray/benchmark
And you can compare with other user's results which can be found here: https://benchmark.chaosgroup.com/cpu
