  • behavior of the override materials seems to have changed.

I ´ve got another question. somehow the behavior of the override material seems to have changed from the version 3.5 to 3.6.

    1. in 3.5 i could use the shown material , scale it to about 4 m. size and this did seem to work fine. Now with 3.6 the scale seems to have changed totaly. somehow the scale using 2m or 30m doesnt make to much of a difference and i just cant get it to work as expected..

    2. the override material in 3.5 seemed to override everything. But now it igoneres objects that have no material, which can be wired, because you use the override material exactly for the reason, you dont want to setup everything and everywhere becaus you use the override to be fast.. and now i have to select again all the objects and give them materials..
so is there a way to make vray 3.6 select all object also those who havn´t allready a material ?

    Hi Tom,

The texture scaling problem cannot be reproduced.
With regards to problem 2 - it has never worked the way you say. We override all materials from Revit with a V-Ray one. In case the geometry has no material assigned, it will not be overridden. In the Global Materials tab of the Asset Browser, there is a color option under Missing Materials which can help you highlight the geometries that are not assigned a material. For now, the solution is to assign all geometries in Revit.

Hallo Chaosgroup.. I am not quite sure, i understand.. Well you´re right.. objects with unasigned materials get another color.. seems to be correct.

But i use an override material for opaque objects, and use a good material . The only thing thats wrong.. the material repeats several times. in a to smal area.. i just wanted it to scale much bigger to make the impression the model is build of wood and this is a photo from its inside.. it also should look rather as a smaler model. so i had to scale up my texture.

But this is somehow wired.. i thought, i could do this from the override parameters of the material . jus scale up the sample size.. it scales up but only inside the same area a smaler portion of the map is shown. Do i get here something wrong ? how can i achieve this ?

Tom, there is a big step; however, it is not version related. I hope this answers to your suggestions : )

allright !!! So i am Glad even if i would love to start with the next version... nevertheless.. i just did a recommondation to my company to by 5 vray for revit licenses.. so i was a bit affraid, if this would mean a costly upgrade... so now i am courious, what the new version will bring....

if you asked me ! the materialeditor of revit. and the ways to locate materials inside of revit , which vray heavily relys on when working in Revit is realy realy complicated and slow... Just implement a material picker inside of the materials.. and this would do the job.. it would save tremendous time in your workflow..you have to search for the revit object which sometimes is located inside of a group, open it, search for the materials if they are there, remember the name of the material, go back to the vray material editor, search ageriin for the name... arrrrgh.. what was the name again... and than after finding it, change it.. this is.. i think the biggest problem when using vray for revit compared to 3ds max for example..

Thank you for your feedback. (However, with a proper Revit template, the issue you describe can be minimized).
