  • Shadow problems related to sunlight and orientation

    Hi.
I'm new at V-Ray for Rhino but I think this is a problem/bug(?)
I was testing shadows with sunlight on a project with his real geographic position on site and with generic materials, I get some curves on shadows that I couldn't understand. Only after making several tests with different models, materials etc, I could find that this shadow curves only appeared on certain angles of the objects related to the sun. I hope this is a sort of bug because I think that doesn't make sense. I had to change the position of my project to not have this shadow curves, but then I couldn't make reliable shadow tests for the windows of the project because it wasn't on his real local position.
Can someone tell me how can we fix this?
    Thanks

    Hi,

Kindly note that this occurs when the bounding box of the scene is too big.

To resolve the issue, please move the geometry closer to the origin of the project

      Hi Georgi,
Can you specify the meaning of 'the bounding box of the scene is too big'?
On the other hand, the geometry of the project is georeferenced. His in 'real' position, so that the shadow study of 'real' sun on site is valid. When you say 'move the geometry closer to the origin of the project' you mean move it to 0,0,0? That would change his real position and the study wouldn't be valid, right?

      Thanks

        Hello, Jose,

You can safely move the geometry to the 0,0,0 point of your project. It will not affect your shadow study. The geolocation and time setup is only used to determine the sun light direction in your model.

        Kind regards,
        Peter
