  • Deleting multiple assets...

... still does not really work in vray next.

I was really happy when I saw this option in the changelog but unfortunately it's still complicated. I'm able to select multiple materials by holding down shift or ctrl but when I press delete, only one random material out of the selected is deleted

Or is there any other way to select a large number of unused materials and delete them? Or at least group them? Please help.... Thanks, Toni

If you attempt to delete a large amount of material at once it may take up to 1-5 seconds per material depending on the complexity of its layer structure.
Could you please try deleting, let's say, only 5 materials at once and see if that works?
In case it fails, please state your OS and confirm whether this occurs only with any of your projects or just specific ones.

    Kind regards,
    Peter

      Hi Peter,

I have seen the slow clean up during "purge unused assets" too and I ask me, could the slow progress enhanced? Or is no faster clean up possible.

There are some optimizations prepared for the upcoming v4.00.02.
Beside this, be advised complex shader structures are unlikely to ever be able to be instantaneously purged. Consider it a trade-off between UI speed and scene stability.

        Kind regards,

OK, it's not often needed and I can make a break in this time. Also it runs in the background, so I can live with it.

An other question - I missed the purge specific assets only. For example I would like to delete unneeded materials, but would like to keep all other kind of asset. At the moment if I use the function I afraid to delete to much other stuff.

Maybe it could be implement a way to delete assets from current open category only. Could be the limited purge runs faster too. Or after pressing purge a list of items is shown, where the user can enable/disable the purge.

The "Purge unused assets" works only for the currently selected asset categories. For example, if only the Materials category in the Asset Editor is selected, no unused textures will be purged when using this action.
Note, however, that purging the Render Elements category will always clear all of its assets. This will be amended in an upcoming update.

            Kind regards,
            Peter
