  • Slow LC - CPU usage approx. 20%

    Hi,

I render an exterior at 6000x3000 and 4000 LC subdivs. The model is quite heavy. The LC pass needs approx. 2 min and runs at 20% CPU usage. How could I get it at 100%?

Could you please confirm whether this behavior occurs only with this specific model?
Additionally, please measure the CPU load using Process Explorer or other similar software and send over the info (screenshots or video) to our Support team (support@chaosgroup.com) for further investigation.

    Kind regards,
    Peter

Peter.Chaushev Hi Peter, I found the slow down isn't dependent from my scene so much and so I bring it down to a simple scene. The problem appears at output higher resolutions, for example at 6000x4000 or above. Than the LC runs at approx. 25% CPU usage only. I tested CPU and GPU mode, but both are using the CPU, so it's no matter. Also resetting to default options and set a high output resolution doesn't help. I'm glad that the scene is so simple now and I'm curious your team will find the reason.

      Good luck,
      Micha

        Hi,

today I have seen the slow LC again and I ask me - is the issue solved for the next release?

vlado Why is it so difficult to get in contact here? Can I do something? I spend a lot of time to describe the bugs, find sample scenes and to post it here. Please, let me know - did you read it, is the example scene helpful, can the bug be fixed? Or should I send all reports per email only?

Micha, please be informed that our dev team has been notified of this behavior and they will further investigate it.

This seems to be a Rhino related issues, since the same behavior is not reproducible with V-Ray Standalone.

As soon as we have any further feedback, we will post it here

yes this is a very annoying issue that I thought was solved in Vray Next. Although 3.6 choked on less high resolution than Next, Next still chokes above a certain resolution. I haven't tested yet what that resolution treshold is though.
Edit: I just gave it a go testing on a simple scene and on a more complex scene. The treshold seems to be 16000 pixels. Above that resolution LC is very slow. Aspect ratio seems to have no influence

A solution will be included in the next publicly available build.
