  • Strong bug - Bongo rerendering of specific frames doesn't work anymore - disabling"overwrite exist frame" not working

    Hi,

in the past a whole animation can be rendered and if there was something wrong at some frames, the user was able to delete the frames from the disk, adjust the model and start the animation rendering again with the option "overwrite exist files" disabled. Only the missed frames was rendered again. This workflow was also very useful to start two or three Rhino task and start the animation rendering at all tasks. So, there was no gaps of the CPU usage for preparing the scene anymore, one task filled the gap of the other.

But now the whole animation is rendered again from the first frame to the last. This is a hugh step backward. Please try to find a way to get back the old functionality.

Both specific frame rendering and the "Overwrite existing files" toggle in Bongo were found to be properly functioning.
Could you please confirm whether the behavior you are witnessing is reproducible with a brand new project (no template, simple box movement transformation)?

    Kind regards,
    Peter

I create a simple box movement based on an empty default Rhino file, but if start an animation calculation it immediately freeze Rhino so that I can't test it at the moment. Looks like this problem needs to be solved before. I will test it later again.

There are two known bugs that may explain the described behavior:
        1. Bongo may hang if the V-Ray render mode in the Asset Editor is set to Interactive
        2. The render process (and subsequently Rhino) hangs after the first frame is done if any of the VFB side panels (color corrections, history, lens effects) are displayed.

Please make sure to account for this when retesting.

Looks like this is the problem here. But I found no way to keep the side panel closed. I started a single rendering, closed the panel and start the Bongo animation, but the panel is shown again and freezed. Is there a trick?

I remember me that the problem for the disabled overwrite function could be, that during the animation the saved frames was named "001.effectsResult" ... . Could it be that Bongo doesn't know this kind of naming and was looking for an exist 001.png? Maybe at your test you used an other way based in the standard numerical naming.

Changes applied to the VFB during Production rendering are not applied. Please try closing the side panels while no render process is ongoing. This behavior is primarily in place to ensure no errors occur even when render regions are drawn mid-process.
As for the file output. Bongo properly handles the output settings from V-Ray (e.g. multichannel files, render channel files, etc are all correctly produced).

I did it like you wrote, I close the panel after I stopped my first test render. Also a next single rendering opens without panel, but if I start an animation it is back. Attached my test file, maybe you get this issue too.
