  • 'Exception in Core: Rendering region...' log message - Can't render scenes

    Hello guys.

I'm having some issues when rendering at 10240x5760px some Rhino scenes (bedrooms) that are not bigger than 600mb filesize. I'm attaching the error that i get. For now i've tried three similar scenes on Rhino 6 with latest Vray update (Aug 10) on two workstations.

    Workstation 1:
    Ryzen 9 3900 4,6ghz
    32gb ram ddr4 3000mhz
    EVGA RTX2080 Super 8gb
    Windows 10

    Workstation 2:
    Intel Xeon 36 cores
    128Gb Ram
    4 x 1080ti
    Windows 10

On both workstations i tried medium+ quality settings and the following modes:
    Progressive
    CUDA Hybrid Bucket Rendering
    RTX (only on workstation 1)

I could render two images on workstation 2 but i also got the ‘Exception in CORE: Internal error. Please save and restart as soon as possible!’ some times. This whole issue is really confusing so i can't reproduce consistently all the errors i get. I'd appreciate some knowledge here to be able to render this as it's really slowing my workflow down.

Let me know if you need additional info.

    Best,

    Hello,

The error message “Failed to allocate n bytes…” means that there is not enough VRAM on the graphics card to start the render process. Please see the article below explaining how to avoid this:
    https://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/...+GPU+rendering

In respect to the “Exception in CORE:...” message could you please send the project where this is occurring to support@chaosgroup.com so we can investigate it in our environment? Just please use the Pack Project tool(V-Ray > Pack Project) to create a zip file containing the 3dm file and the associated assets and send it to us.

I assume that the file is too large to be attached to an email. In this case you could use file-sharing service(GDrive, Dropbox, etc) and write an email to support@chaosgroup.com and paste the link to the files there(in the email).
Additionally please include a link to this forum post so the recipient can receive context about the files.

        Thank you!

Thanks. Yes, it's about 400-500mb. I've already opened a ticket so i'll follow up there.

          Best,
          Nicolas.

I was having the same "Exception in Core" error message. The issues started after I updated Rhino 6 and V-ray Next.
NM-92 did you ever get the issue resolved?

              Hello dsaldoff,

I still have an open ticket regarding this. I'm running some tests but this issue is really random for me. Sometimes i get it , sometimes don't. I really couldn't track down why does it appear. What i know for now is that this doesn't happen when i preview my scene at lower resolutions (800x450px), but it does sometimes when i final render on medium+ / high quality settings , either on hybrid render or cpu only. Still testing on my side.

              Best,

              Nicolas

NM-92, I'm having the exact same issue unless I render solely on my CPU. In CUDA hybrid mode I can render at low resolutions but as soon as I go to Medium+ or higher I crash. Let me know how things turn out. Good Luck.

Hi everybody, I'm quite new to Vray render (doing some courses now) but having the same issue with a very simple scene.
This i s the message: "Exception in Core: Rendering region ...." and then Rhino crushes.
                          Any suggestion?

                              Hi roberto_piasco,

This i s the message: "Exception in Core: Rendering region ...." and then Rhino crushes.
V-Ray 5 for Rhino, update 1 was recently released.
I believe there might be a fix for your issue there.
Can you retest and let us know if you can still reproduce the crash?

                              Konstantin
