Just thinking about this; I can think of no reason at all to use a vray plane. All I can see that it does is it saves you typing into two boxes to define the size of a regular plane.
Is there a reason it still exists, or some unique use of it that eludes me?

I use desert HDRI as environment and the infinite ground plane best match the HDRI horizon. A manual place ground plane must be quite large, most needed if you render a bird view with horizon.

Sure, though that just means scaling the plane up to fit no?
It's only a thought, so whatever works really; just seems like it is a very old 'thing' that vray had and just happens to still be there for no apparent reason

I just saw a youtube vid where some guy explained that it is actually fantastic, because if there is a sun in the scene then all the rays don't disappear around the sides of a normal plane but get bounced up to light the scene, thus making it more realistic, which sounds to me like nonsense, as most of those rays are useless anyway, or in most conceivable cases.

I bet someone will see this and respond with something crucial I've not thought of that makes invaluable
