  • Vray freezes in GPU rendering with GPU material preview

I have an issues with GPU rendering. When I redener sceene with GPU only (Nvidia RTX 2060) and open Asset editor with Material preview tab (preview is set for GPU too), the bucket render freezes and does not progress any further. Render cannot be stopped or canceled. I must then force to close Rhino via task manager and restart it.

    Rhino Version 7 (7.1.20343.9491) + V-Ray for Rhinoceros 7 5.00.02

    Hi pavol_pastork

Could you please provide some additional information?
    1. Does the issue occur with specific project or any (even newly created ones)?
    2. Are any errors/warning output in the V-Ray Progress Log?
    3. Are the GPU's drivers version 461.09?

      Hi georgi.georgiev
      1. This issue occur in every project. I tried simple blank project with box and sphere, 2 materials, dome light + sun - same problem.
      2. In progress log are warrnings: Num samples per thread reduced to 344483, rendering might be slower - Screenshot attached
      3. Yes, driver version is 461.09 01/07/2021.

      Thanks

        Thank you for the feedback!

Kindly note that the issue will be forwarded to the dev team (WEBUI-5755) and they will further investigate it!

In the meantime as a workaround, you could revert to the previous recommended driver version 457.09 where the issue does not occur

Thanks, with driver version 457.09 there is no freezing at all.
