material name length and blocks

I've had difficulty with unintended duplication of materials and with materials not displaying reliably when using blocks, especially when a block is nested in a block.

Length of material name. I've found that in some instances the material can be retrieved by shortening the material name to 20 characters or less.


I'm assuming that when using blocks, there is some limitation on the length of the file path string.

Hi Jeff,

Can't seem to reproduce such issues with simple tests. Regarding the materials not displaying reliably when using nested blocks, would it be possible to provide some screenshots/screen recording examples? Can you also show how are those materials duplicated; any steps to reproduce it would be greatly appreciated.
